8:30 AM - 9:00 AM: Pickup & Departure
Your guide will pick you up from your Stone Town hotel. Walk or drive to the port where you'll board a traditional wooden boat for the 30-minute journey to Prison Island. During the boat ride, enjoy views of Stone Town's seafront and the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.
9:30 AM - 10:30 AM: Giant Tortoise Sanctuary
Upon arrival at Prison Island, visit the famous giant tortoise sanctuary. These Aldabra tortoises were a gift from the Seychelles government in the late 19th century. Some are over 150 years old and weigh up to 200 kg. Learn about their conservation, interact with them, and take photos with these gentle giants.
10:30 AM - 11:15 AM: Historical Tour
Explore the historical prison building that gives the island its name. Built in 1893, it was originally intended as a prison but was later used as a quarantine station. Your guide will explain the island's fascinating history and its significance to Zanzibar.
11:15 AM - 12:30 PM: Snorkeling & Swimming
Enjoy snorkeling in the crystal-clear waters surrounding the island. The coral reefs are home to a variety of colorful fish and marine life. Snorkeling equipment is provided, and your guide will show you the best spots. If you prefer not to snorkel, you can relax on the beautiful white sand beach or swim in the turquoise waters.
12:30 PM - 1:00 PM: Return to Stone Town
Board the boat for the return journey to Stone Town. Arrive back at the port and transfer to your hotel, or your guide can recommend nearby restaurants if you'd like to have lunch in Stone Town.
